To 'lock' the HaynetHandy simply open to required aperture and pull up on the rope so that it locks into the upturned v-shaped cleat:

To 'unlock' the HaynetHandy, pull down on the rope to release it from the cleat:

When storing the HaynetHandy, close flat, then lock so that it cannot fall open.
